Dana-co is the leading design company of luxury women’s intimate apparel brands, Natori and Skarlett Blue. We have become renowned in the industry for our superior fit, high-quality fabrics and construction, and innovative design concepts.
We are currently looking for a Color Assistant to join our Production team. The Color Assistant should have experience working in fabric for fashion apparel (preferably in intimate apparel) with excellent attention to detail, effective communication skills, and an understanding of fabric properties to evaluate samples and prototypes to provide feedback on vibrancy, colorfastness, and matching tests to ensure consistent results.
This position is full-time and required to work on-site in our New York City design office.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Colorist with all day-to-day tasks including email follow-up, organizing, highlighting any issues that have come up or need to be approved
- Comment on Lab Dips, bulk, and trim cards
- Enter all approval dates and status to Color Status Charts, input in all color comments
- Communicate with factories on a daily basis
- Order all color standards as needed
- Keep Color Standard Library by Brand organized and up to date
- Assign color numbers as needed
- Create binders, organize and maintain all of the submits for all seasons for each divisions library
- Confirm all color names and color numbers are consistent across all charts
- Send packages with color standards, lab dip, or trim cards as needed
- Perform the administrative tasks necessary to execute the color process
- Follow the current process for all work
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in textile design or related field preferred
- Technical knowledge of color, color theory, and their applications in fashion and intimate apparel
- Familiarity with various fabric properties and their interactions with dyes and colors
- Strong attention to detail with excellent multi-tasking and organizational skills
- Experience sending color comments to suppliers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including excellent Excel skills
- Excellent follow-up skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Must be able to work as part of a team
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- 3 years of experience in an apparel company (intimate apparel preferred)
