Postdoctoral Fellowship Position: Lynch Syndrome Center, Sweet Family Fellowship

The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute announces the availability of a postdoctoral research fellowship position in cancer prevention with a focus in early detection, risk assessment, and outcomes, as part of the Lynch Syndrome Center. The Lynch Syndrome Center is embedded within Dana-Farber’s Division of Cancer Genetics and Prevention and provides personalized, multidisciplinary care to individuals with a diagnosis of Lynch syndrome. Current research efforts are focused on enhancing personalized surveillance by developing early detection technologies, medical and surgical treatments, a longitudinal clinical data and biospecimen repository to track surveillance outcomes, implementing cancer risk assessment in diverse populations, improving patient-provider communication about cancer risk and genetic testing, clinical trials of novel diagnostics for early detection and screening, and vaccines for cancer prevention. The postdoctoral fellow will work directly with the Lynch Syndrome Center faculty leadership and collaborators to advance research goals in the identified areas.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement and lead clinical, translational or basic science studies in Lynch Syndrome to advance comprehensive early detection, cancer prevention and improved care outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other multidisciplinary faculty, statisticians, and study teams.
  • Conduct analyses using statistical software, such as SAS, R, and others.
  • Participate in group meetings and work collaboratively on larger projects with other group members.
  • Generate data for figures and tables to serve as the basis of published manuscripts.
  • Write manuscripts describing research results.
  • Write protocols, grants and progress reports related to research funding.
  • Present research findings at scientific meetings and conferences.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Strong analytic and writing skills.
  • Strong commitment and experience in cancer genetics research would be an advantage.
  • High level of dedication to Lynch syndrome.
  • Ability to work independently and perform troubleshooting when needed.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and work with a wide variety of faculty and staff.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Multitasking essential.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in medicine, biological sciences, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, implementation science, or related fields. Multidisciplinary training and experience in multiple of these fields is desirable.
  • MD or MD-equivalent and PhD-holding candidates will both be considered.
  • Ability to commit 1-2 years with anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.
