Overview

The Senior Project Manager, Pharmacy Operations and Planning is responsible for conducting all aspects of assigned pharmacy projects. This position provides day-to-day oversight and management of various pharmacy operational and strategic planning projects, including but not limited to definition of project scope, management and status reporting utilizing project management methodology and tools, basic data analysis, risk analysis and mitigation strategies. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for reporting on their defined deliverables to identify variances in project plans and to develop contingency plans when necessary to keep project milestones on track. Tasks and responsibilities are varied depending on the project aims, scope and definition.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day oversight and management aspects of assigned projects
  • Develops the systems, tools, and infrastructure needed for managing various projects including project initiation, project plans, coordinating and managing all project activities, and identifying/mitigating potential risks and issues, success metrics, timelines, and resource needs.
  • Prepares and presents project status reports including dashboards and executive summaries
  • Develops project plans that provides overall direction, deliverables, and milestones for the project
  • Works collaboratively with cross-functional teams (internal and external to the pharmacy department) to inform pharmacy planning processes
  • Schedules and leads project-related meetings/workgroups, records action items, tracks completion status, and other project related administrative tasks
  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; relevant master’s degree preferred (e.g., MBA, MPH, MHA, MSW)
  • 5 years of experience in project management, consulting, healthcare, operations management, or similar field required
  • Process improvement and strategic planning experience a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Understanding of project management and change management approaches and principles
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite of Programs (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio) and project management tool
  • Demonstrated consulting and/or project management skills
  • Strong results-orientation, teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills to navigate projects through a consensus-driven environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects and assignments
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with a strong focus on managing details
  • Ability to focus on multiple, complex projects and re-establish priorities as necessary
  • Ability to be flexible and excel in a fast-paced, action-oriented environment
  • Ability to operate independently and as a part of a team
  • Desire and ability to train and mentor team members
