Job Purpose
As a Specialist Technician-Gearbox/Winch Controls you will complete service, repair and assembly of all drives in our care, following work procedures and maintaining the highest level of workmanship as required by our customers. To always act in a professional manner and abide by the policies of Dana Incorporated.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Gearbox & Industrial winch inspection and reporting
- Gearbox repair and servicing in the workshop and external to the facility as required
- Troubleshooting of gearbox & winch performance to recommend repair solutions
- Diagnose & repair hydraulic/pneumatic/electrical system faults
- Maintain tools and equipment as deemed necessary
- Test and evaluation of winch applications
- Assist with Development of service tools and processes
- Ensure Quality and Safety is always a priority
- Ensure accurate record keeping on job and time sheets is maintained
- Comply with all applicable procedures/work instructions when operating equipment
- Ensure all accidents and hazards are reported and that PPE is always worn
- Carry out duties according to the Standards of Business Conduct and company policies
- Participate in training programs for personnel as required
- Ensure professionalism and dress standards are always maintained
- Undertake other tasks as directed within scope of role, including some tasks outside of job scope as required
Key Challenges:
- Ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision
- Ability to read and understand instructions and general correspondence and apply the knowledge of a reasonable person to carry out those instructions
- Ability to write simple correspondence in English
- Ability to interpret German drawings and manuals to support parent company troubleshooting
- Working with and developing workshop procedures
- Maintenance of workshop equipment
- High standards of workmanship including attention to detail and accuracy
- Mechanical aptitude
- A sense of urgency and willingness to work under pressure when required
- A high awareness and respect for other team members
- Ability to perform the tasks without placing others and own safety and health at risk
- Ability to meet deadlines
Education/Qualifications:
- Fitter Trade/mechatronics qualifications
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
Experience:
- Understand and be knowledgeable in hydraulic/pneumatic & electrical controls.
- Experience in winch applications.
- General industrial gearbox assembly.
