Summary
Answer and route incoming calls to Vassar Brothers Medical Center's main number, emergency lines, and patient information lines. Demonstrate service excellence by providing accurate information regarding Nuvance Health and Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Adhere to Nuvance Health policies and procedures, especially those regarding privacy and confidentiality. Assist in maintaining up-to-date computerized databases and on-call schedules in a timely fashion. Exhibit strong customer service and telephone skills.

Responsibilities
- Answer main number and patient information calls in a timely fashion, exhibiting strong customer service resulting in service excellence for callers.
- Implement code protocols accurately, as written, in the Policy and Procedure Manual. Demonstrate clear understanding, knowledge, and proficiency in handling emergencies. Execute proper activation procedures using Vocera, our computerized phone and paging systems, for life safety codes that occur at any Nuvance Health location.
- Monitor all emergency devices and alarm systems and notify the appropriate personnel, when activated. Accurately and timely documentation utilizing appropriate log books/sheets and incident reports for all Emergency alarms. Maintain contact with Engineering and/or Security depts. at all times. Notify EVS or Engineering of telephone and/or TV issues/concerns in patient rooms.
- Maintain up-to-date databases and on-call schedules to provide requested information accurately and efficiently.
- Courteous and friendly manner when assisting callers adhering to Nuvance Health's policies regarding professionalism and respect. Maintain composure when faced with difficult or stressful situations.
- Document and maintain code logs in Excel spreadsheets.
- Participate in establishment and achievement of department goals.
- Willingness to assist co-workers and/or accept additional assignments to support the department's efficiency. Establish and maintain efficient working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, and customers.
- HS Graduate or GED and six months of switchboard, direct customer service, and/or guest services experience
- Basic data entry and Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams & Word skills
- Ability to communicate in Spanish and/or Portuguese, a plus
