- Develop and post engaging, relevant, and standards-based lessons tailored to adult learners in a self-paced, online format.
- Monitor and assess student progress through timely feedback and grading, ensuring responses to submitted work within two school days.
- Provide individualized guidance and encouragement to support student persistence and course completion through asynchronous communication tools.
- Utilize a range of instructional resources and digital tools to promote learning gains in an independent learning environment.
- Create and maintain a supportive online classroom climate that fosters independent learning.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including registration, attendance, assignment submissions, and performance assessments.
- Understand and model ethical and legal practices related to digital content and educational technology.
- Collaborate with program staff as needed and participate in curriculum development.
- Perform other duties as delegated by the Director or Facilitator of Adult Education.
- Knowledge of adult learners and alternative education methods, particularly for online and asynchronous instruction.
- Strong communication skills in an asynchronous teaching environment.
- Proficiency with educational software, learning management systems, and digital tools used in online instruction.
- Ability to foster student motivation and success in a self-paced, remote setting.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to track student progress and meet feedback deadlines.
- Prior teaching experience preferred, especially in online or adult education settings.
- Valid Connecticut Teaching Certificate for 7-12 subject matter
- Adult Education certification or willingness to obtain.

- $3,331.25 per class
- WERACE CDP asynchronous courses run from October 1, 2025 – May 31, 2026, following the DPS/WERACE school calendar.
- Instructors are expected to assess, grade, and provide feedback on submitted work within two school days.
- This position is fully remote and asynchronous. There are no in-person or synchronous student meetings required.

Responsible for teaching assigned high school credit diploma courses in a fully asynchronous, remote format for WERACE. Instructors implement the Connecticut Competency System (CCS) and design learning experiences geared toward adult learners. Lessons and curriculum are developed to meet the needs of culturally diverse, multi-skill-level students completing coursework independently in an online environment.
