Job Overview: We are seeking compassionate, enthusiastic, and dedicated caregivers to join our team. As a caregiver at Dandelion Discovery Center, you will play an essential role in supporting children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in an outdoor, hands-on environment. You will work closely with children, families, and other staff members to create a nurturing and stimulating environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with children in a respectful, caring, and attentive manner
- Facilitate play-based learning through both structured activities and spontaneous exploration
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages cooperation, creativity, and independence
- Ensure children's safety and well-being at all times, indoors and outdoors
- Actively participate in outdoor activities, including nature walks, gardening, and free play
- Observe and document children’s progress, noting key milestones and interests
- Work collaboratively with other caregivers and staff members to create a cohesive learning environment
- Assist with daily routines, including meal times, naps, and personal care
- Communicate regularly with parents and families about their child’s development
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Passion for working with children and a deep understanding of child development
- Knowledge of or interest in Reggio Emilia or other child-led, play-based educational approaches
- Interest in professional development
- Comfort and enthusiasm for spending time outdoors in all types of weather
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and participate in physical activities with children (e.g., walking, playing, carrying materials)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Ability to remain patient, calm, and nurturing in all situations
- Experience in early childhood education, childcare, or a related field (preferred but not required)
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willing to obtain)
