Manager of Regulatory Affairs
We are seeking a dynamic energy policy expert to lead our regulatory and market development efforts in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions at Dandelion.
In this role, you will be a critical part of an expanding team delivering Dandelion's policy and regulatory priorities to grow the market for the geothermal heat pumps in this key region. Expect to work directly with department leadership to shape and implement the regulatory and policy strategy to defend and grow utility incentives, renewable energy credit markets, and other policies to drive adoption of geothermal heat pumps in retrofits and new construction.
Responsibilities
Craft and execute on our external engagement strategy in Northeast/Mid-Atlantic
- Work with Dandelion's Vice President of Policy to determine which policy and regulatory efforts are most strategic to Dandelion's work.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key utility, government, and other stakeholders in the region.
- As appropriate, engage trade groups and external lobbyists to boost our efforts.
- Craft thoughtful, detailed written comments, memos, or presentations as needed.
- Translate policy and utility opportunities into business opportunities by training the sales team on rebates and incentives.
- Defend existing incentives and markets through active monitoring of evolving markets and engagement in ongoing regulatory proceedings. Initial focus will include Maryland, New York, and Massachusetts.
- Keep our business strategy central to your efforts at all times.
Represent Dandelion in front of government stakeholders
- Effectively and persuasively represent Dandelion in front of state and local governmental leaders.
- Thoughtfully engage your network - or build your network - to further our business goals.
- Be a thought leader for building decarbonization and electrification policy.
- Communicate Dandelion's interests in a way that pushes policy thinking forward and aligns policymakers with our goals.
Collaborate with our internal experts to create thoughtful policy recommendations
- Marshall internal resources in a way that allows you to get into the details of policy recommendations, and be informed where it matters.
- Be a natural momentum builder and great collaborator.
- Be a team player and continuously support the sales team with understanding policy and utility incentives in their regions.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- You have at least 3 years of experience in working with the public sector, ideally at the intersection of business and policy. Relevant experience may come from policy advocacy, direct work in federal, state, or local government, or from a similar role for another startup.
- You are familiar with and passionate about energy policy and utility regulation.
- Your work experience includes persuasion or collaboration work across multiple external groups.
- Willing to roll up your sleeves and understand the details of regulatory issues and utility proceedings.
- Bachelors degree from a four year university required, graduate degree preferred. Business experience is not required, but the ability to understand and operate within business constraints - including limited resources,impatient timelines, and a focus on ROI

- Excellent interpersonal skills to work well with colleagues across all businesses/cultures, achieve objectives through effective influencing, and establish credibility with senior leaders.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize complex topics into clear and simple messages.
