The Board of Health Madison and Dane County has a full-time (1.0 FTE) vacancy for a Nurse Practitioner position.

DEFINITION
Under the general direction of the Health Officer, Medical Director and Public Health Supervisor, the Nurse Practitioner functions as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to clients in an outpatient sexual and reproductive health clinical setting. Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination for public health clients. Demonstrates an advanced level of nursing clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism and systems-based practice. The NP assures safe, effective, culturally appropriate sexual and reproductive health care within the clinic setting. Educates individuals, groups, community organizations and health care providers about sexual and reproductive health care. Provides care within their scope of practice as outlined by applicable state law, licensing, regulations, and institutional policy agreements.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Conduct health assessments including recording complete medical and psychosocial history; record symptoms; physically examine patients; make diagnosis; develop a treatment plan that may include medication and other therapies; provide patient education to promote habits that will prevent diseases and maintain good health; collaborate with other providers; order and interpret laboratory test results; follow up with patient to determine the effectiveness of recommended treatments; performs lead work and direction to other staff; performs other duties as assigned. Provide consults for PHNs in clinic as needed; be onsite during all clinical hours to assist with clinical questions and issues that arise; maintain clinic scheduling for staff and clients on IntakeQ and Deputy; lead clinician meetings; assist with EHR implementation for program and building out processes and templates; assist with billing project and implementation in collaboration with leadership and Budget & Finance team; onboard new clinicians into the program; lead annual skills review for clinicians; manage WIR and WEDSS for clinic; assist with strategic planning of clinic; maintain and draft standing orders, processes, procedures, and protocols for clinic; manage medication and medical supplies inventory, documentation, and processes; demonstrates knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, presentation and epidemiology of sexual and reproductive health medical conditions; assures the development and maintenance of appropriate program materials for the SRH clinic; works as part of the interdisciplinary Sexual and Reproductive Health team to identify stakeholder and community partnerships needed to meet the goals of the program; utilizes outreach and educational methods within the community to increase health and wellness for all residents; stays current on sexual and reproductive health care information that will impact practice; provides up to date and relevant sexual and reproductive health education to PHMDC staff in the SRH and relevant programs; collaborates with local SRH and OB / GYN partners to improve services and systems to support clients.
Education, Experience and Special Requirements
Education, Training and Experience :
Must have a Master's degree in nursing and licensure as a nurse practitioner in Wisconsin. Must have one (1) or more years of experience in OB / GYN, Women's Health, Reproductive Health or Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine. Must have one (1) or more years of experience inserting and removing IUDs and arm implants.
Special Requirements :
Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to reliable personal motor vehicle transportation. Must obtain required immunizations within six (6) months of hire.

Physical and Environmental Work Requirements :
Professional office and clinical work environment. Work involves walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, twisting, turning, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, grasping and reaching within normal ranges. Ability to lift and move a variety of work-related materials weighing up to 25 pounds with / without assistance. Manual dexterity using fine and gross motor skills. Ability to speak and be heard by others. Ability to see and hear within normal ranges with or without corrective devices. Prolonged computer and phone use. Ability to do injections, blood draws, reproductive health exams and testing, IUD / arm implant insertion and removal, pelvic exams. Ability to be fitted and wear NIOSH 95 mask.

Bilingual Pay : Employees who work in bilingual designated positions receive an additional $2.00 per hour.
Undesirable Hours Premium Pay : Employees may receive undesirable hours pay of $2.00 for anytime worked between 6 : 00 p.m. and 6 : 00 a.m and for anytime on Saturday and / or Sunday. (not applicable with all employee groups).
Paid Parental Leave : Dane County also provides 12 weeks of paid parental leave for birth or adoption of a child.
Caregiver Leave : Dane County offers 80 hours of paid leave to care for an ill family member.
Telecommuting : Telecommuting allows employees to work remotely for all or part of their workweek. Dane County considers telecommuting to be a viable, flexible option when both the employee and the job are suited to such an arrangement. Dane County will permit telecommuting when it benefits the productivity of the employee and their department and if determined by employee's department that telecommuting is not detrimental to either the County or the employee.
