Hours : Saturday / Sunday - 2pm to 12am
The Independent Living Monitor works in conjunction with the Project Prepare Program Director to maintain a safe and secure environment, physically and emotionally, for older youth and young adults in the Project Prepare program who reside at the Independent Living Village (ILV). Duties include supervision of residents at ILV to ensure safety and to facilitate positive activities during the evening, such as tutoring, life skills instruction, and recreational activities. Acts as positive adult role model to provide ongoing encouragement and support for youth and is instrumental in the provision of “situational” life skills training events.
- Consistently demonstrates support as part of the team to meet departmental goals and objective.
- Demonstrates good judgment in making decisions in unprecedented situations.
- Seeks direction from supervisor when warranted. Refers to agency’s policies and procedures for guidance and decision making.
- Adheres to agency and departmental policies and procedures 100% of the time.
- Effectively organizes workload, using priorities to schedule and meet deadlines.
- Maintains files and reports in an organized manner and assists IL Director in this area.
- Provides assistance to IL Director and / or clients in completion of necessary forms and paperwork.
- Interacts with customers (employees and all other outside contacts) by verbal and non-verbal means that effectively transmit thoughts, feelings ideas and information.
- Identifies and focuses on meeting the needs of all customers (co-workers, foster parents, birth parents and all other outside agencies).
- Completes special studies, projects and reports as requested by supervisor according to specified guidelines and in a timely manner.
- Maintains professional, ethical and supportive relationship with clients, co-workers, and external partners.
- Uses computer programs efficiently to perform job responsibilities (seeks training if currently deficient in computer skills).
- Maintains confidentiality to include client information.
- Transports clients to appointments when needed.
- Understand and enforce programmatic operating guidelines.
- Inspect and maintain a safe, clean environment.
- Maintains an environment of respect and dignity for all constituents.
- Attend job related trainings, meetings, events and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Immediately reports any real or suspected child abuse or neglect, as defined in the FL Statutes, Section 415.504, to FL DCF via the Protective Services System (1-800-962-2873).
- Consistently maintains client confidentiality.
- Maintain and ensure clients complete Client Satisfaction Survey as needed.
- Exercise appropriate judgment when supervisor is unavailable.
- Models appropriate and professional behavior (i.e., dress, habits, personality, tact, etc.)
- Relates with clients, parents, peers and the general public in a respectful and professional manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
