What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Driver's Licensure Instructor 2025-2026 (DMTC) position at Daniel Morgan Technology Center?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- South Carolina Class A or Class B driver's license
- 8 years of driving experience with no violations
- Eligible for certification through the State Department of Education, Office of Career and Technology Education
REQUIREMENTS:
- Class A: Combination of Vehicles. Any combination of vehicles with gross combination weight rating of 26,001 or more pounds fall in Group A provided that gross weight rating of the vehicle(s) being towed is more than 10,000 pounds.
- Class B: Any single vehicle with GVWR of 26, 001 or more pounds fall in Group B, or any such vehicle towing another vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds GVWR.
- Instructor must be knowledgeable of how to operate an automatic and manual commercial motor vehicle.
- Instructor must pass the required background and drug test.
ENDORSEMENTS NEEDED TO TEACH CLASS A and/or CLASS B ARE:
- Passenger (P): Drivers who wish to drive a vehicle having a design capacity to carry 16 or more people, including the driver.
- School Bus (S): Drivers who wish to drive the school bus must add a bus endorsement to their CDL. They must pass a special knowledge examination on safety considerations when transporting passengers in a school bus and must pass skills tests in a school bus.
- Air Brakes: A teacher of the program must have their air brakes endorsements.
