Project Accountant
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic project accountant to work closely with our controller and executive leadership team to manage high level projects across the organization. This position is the main liaison between finance and our project teams to facilitate strong financial management and control of DOC projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Work directly with the Controller, Executive Project Managers and Project Managers to facilitate monthly review meetings of their projects’ budget, cost to complete, contract reconciliation, cost forecast and cash flow. Prepare any required analysis, key performance indicators, risk assessments and other related project reports as needed or requested by management. Assist with change order pricing for both subcontractors and owners.
- Work with Project Managers and Contract Administrator to review and assure Subcontractor/Vendor compliance. This includes preparing weekly compliance and invoice status reports.
- Possess an understanding of contractual financial impacts, contractual entitlements, risks, etc., within owner and subcontractor contracts. Have the ability to reconcile the final contract value back to the terms and conditions of the prime/owner and subcontractor contracts.
- Assist Controller with yearend, external audit requests, such as contract confirmations and other various audit requests. Additionally, take lead on owner audits and the financial closeout of their assigned projects. Take part in bid reviews, owner meetings, site meetings and other project related meetings as needed.
- Regularly reviews the project’s actual cost and performance against their budget and previously reported EACs. Identify and bring to the attention of management, variances from the original baseline and other areas of concern.
- Travel as necessary to perform the duties required by this position.
- Perform other similar or associated duties as responsibilities necessitate or as assigned.
Position Qualifications
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300, ProCore).
- Experience with Microsoft Power BI is a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience with large-scale construction projects.
- Knowledge of construction contracts and legal requirements.
