Job Profile
The Material Handler verifies and maintains records on incoming and outgoing shipments and assist in preparing items for shipment by quality and productivity standards.
Main Tasks and Key Responsibilities:
- Examines shipment contents and compares with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
- Records shipment data, such as weight, charges, damages, and discrepancies for reporting, and recordkeeping purposes.
- Must be able to operate forklift and hand jacks.
- Ability to load and unload heavy equipment and materials.
- Sorts materials for processing transport.
- Moves freight, stock or other materials to and from storage or production areas.
- Builds crates according to international and domestic standards.
- Inventory control.
- Organize Outlook Personal folders to store specific email correspondence.
- Ability to use smart phone to communicate with managers, colleagues, and customers.
Must Have's:
- High School Diploma/GED or Higher
- Proven working experience in shipping and receiving
- Able to solve most technical issues with minimum direction
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Above average communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experienced at dealing with multiple activities with minimum direction
Work Context and Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, carry, finger, grasp, feel, talk to communicate, speak over public address system, hear, and be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Work Conditions:
Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. Exposed to elevated noise levels and extreme heat and cold. Physical hazards - Close proximity to moving parts, hot surfaces, pinch points, sparks, sharp edges, high pressure air, oxygen and gas lines.
