Job Summary
Danieli Group, a leading company in the metal industry, is seeking a skilled Assembly Specialist to work at our Ashland, KY workshop. The successful candidate will be responsible for disassembling, evaluating, and assembling steel mill equipment, including mill stands, shears, straighteners, caster oscillators, rollers, mill mandrels, levelers, and gearboxes.
The position requires excellent mechanical aptitude, as well as the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. The successful candidate must be able to use various tools, such as hydraulic presses, cutting torches, and hand tools, to perform tasks efficiently.
Main Responsibilities:
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble large industrial gear boxes, shears, and mandrels
- Reassemble mill equipment to meet Danieli Standards
- Inspect mill equipment
- Read and understand drawings and specs for equipment
- Inspect dimensions of equipment using micrometers
- Perform basic welding tasks
- Align machines and equipment using hosts, jacks, hand tools, cranes, square rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs
- Use a grinder to grind space defined by micrometers
- Clean equipment to a very high standard
- Experience with overhead crane usage, rigging, techniques, and crane/rigging
Requirements:
- Must be able to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Must have good mechanical aptitude
- Must be able to use torch cutting equipment and set up and operate small job machinery
- Must be willing to work overtime in the evenings and weekends when required
- Position requires lifting heavy objects more than 50 lbs
- Position requires plant floor activity 90% of the time in a non-climate environment
- Relevant steel industry experience is a major plus
- Pass pre-employment drug test, ongoing random drug testing. Physical lifting and audiogram testing
- Authorized to work in the USA
- Position is drug screen and background contingent
