Overview
An Automation is responsible for installation, advanced programming, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automation facility equipment to improve oilfield system operation/uptime and reduce total operating costs.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate Maintenance activities at a local level.
- Represent the Automation team in facility maintenance-related correspondence.
- Understand the facilities process, equipment, and design that best support the Asset team.
- Maintain maintenance schedule, implementation, and compliance to design.
- Assist in tracking and reporting Maintenance costs.
- Provide accurate quotes for automation and maintenance projects.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate and complete for all automation projects and stored in a central location.
- Assist in the implementation of design for facilities within guidelines of automation standards.
- Communicate all Maintenance activities with Asset Teams.
- Mentor and Train Automation Well Specialists on facility process flow and PLC, HMI, and end device troubleshooting.
- Respond and provide automation support during all outages.
- Work off of the assigned schedule and maintain no out-of-compliance work orders.
- Preform Facility communication and PLC troubleshooting support.
- Provide analytical support on facility problems.
- Provide input on new technologies.
- Ensure facilities are maintained in an orderly manner to included proper management of PLC programs, PLC panel wiring, and cleanliness of automation equipment.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years Oil and Gas Programmable Automation experience, using Allen Bradley automation software
- 3-5-years Oil and Gas Instrumentation and Electrical field/land experience
- Some offshore experience on a production platform preferred.
- Must be knowledgeable with programming simulation, installation, troubleshooting and testing with all applicable production equipment/systems.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; 2-year technical degree highly preferred.
- Ability to work a 14x14 offshore rotation schedule.
- Competent knowledge of oil and gas automation systems and gas process facilities
- Advanced level Oil & Gas Automation and Electrical design principles in a Production Operations environment
- Advanced instrumentation & Electrical / Automation codes and practices knowledge and experience
- I&E Electrical codes and practices, material specifications and applications experience a huge plus;
- Understanding of regulatory guidelines
- Strong Leadership and Mentoring skills
- Ability to perform under pressure
- Ability to work with a team and communicate with other functions.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Be knowledgeable with tagging conventions, programming simulation, and testing
- Demonstrate ability to perform strong time management skills

- Knowledge of RTUs. Understanding of digital and analog I/O, programming, and troubleshooting.
