Job Summary
The Assistant Food Service Manager is a part time position that provides support and leadership to the food service operations at DACC. The Assistant Manager’s primary responsibility is to develop menus, recipes, and production procedures regarding the food produced and sold in the food service operation. They will also assist the manager in the day-to-day operation of the on-campus cafeteria, coffee shop, as well as on and off campus catering events.
Duties
- Must be an excellent cook.
- Plan, prepare, and train staff to produce food products.
- Train and supervise food service employees
- Track stock levels of food, supplies, and equipment; forecast needs; assist with ordering as necessary.
- Address customer needs, comments, and complaints.
- Adhere to and enforce employee compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Ensure all employees are working within outlined operating standards.
- Prepare and serve food.
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Food and beverage service industry experience required.
- Must have or be able to complete within 30 days a Food Handlers Certification.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Food Manager Certification.
- General knowledge of restaurant operations, including personnel management, food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation and health codes, and security.
- Demonstrated ability to manage operating costs in accordance with budgets.
- Comfortable setting priorities and delegating tasks as needed.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations.
- Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste.
- Train new and current employees on proper food production practices.
- Must have ability to utilize Word, Excel, and point of sale software.
