Responsibilities:
- Follow lesson plans and instructions provided by the absent teacher
- Provide instruction and support to students in various subjects, including math and literacy education
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students, including those with autism or special education requirements
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Manage student behavior and ensure a safe learning environment
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure continuity in student learning
- Provide feedback to the regular teacher regarding student progress and any issues that may arise
Qualifications:
- Valid Iowa Teaching License or Valid Substitute Authorization Certificate REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (preferred but not required)
- Mandatory Reporting Certifications (Child & Dependent Adult) REQUIRED
- Ability to pass a background check
- Experience working with children (preferred but not required)
- Knowledge of childhood development and effective teaching strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
