Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Design and implement an engaging instructional program that meets state standards and prepares students for academic success.
- Deliver instruction in core subjects, including language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, incorporating effective teaching strategies and differentiation techniques.
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to accommodate diverse learning styles and student needs while ensuring alignment with the division's instructional philosophy.
- Foster a positive classroom culture by establishing and maintaining clear behavioral expectations, providing positive reinforcement, and addressing challenges constructively.
- Monitor and assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, maintaining accurate records, and providing timely feedback.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians through conferences, progress reports, and other channels to support student achievement and well-being.
- Supervise and guide student movement throughout the school, ensuring safety in hallways, buses, the cafeteria, and other common areas.
- Administer state and district-mandated assessments in accordance with established protocols.
- Participate in professional learning opportunities, curriculum development meetings, and school-based professional activities.
- Engage in student and parent activities, such as PTA meetings, student clubs, and extracurricular events.
- Maintain an inviting, well-organized learning environment with functional and engaging displays and instructional materials.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal or school administration.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in education or a related field.
- Licensure: Must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Collegiate Professional License or Postgraduate Professional License with appropriate endorsement for elementary education.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, classroom management techniques, and the ability to create an engaging, student-centered learning environment.
- Prior experience with The IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) preferred.
