About Us
The Danville Redevelopment and Housing Authority is a public entity that was formed in 1941 to provide federally subsidized housing and housing assistance to low-income families within the City of Danville, VA. DRHA owns and manages a total of 563 units in 7 multi-family developments which accommodates approximately 1,600 residents.
Overview
Maintenance Technicians are responsible for the repair, upkeep and modernization of our 563 units in 7 multi-family developments. They are semi-skilled in the plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC and carpentry fields, possessing knowledge and some experience.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, heating and refrigeration equipment.
- Plans and implements preventative maintenance.
- Inspects vacant units, identifies maintenance and repair needs.
- Serves as a lead worker in building and grounds maintenance and repair.
- Repairs furnaces and air conditioners
- Replaces water heaters and appliances
- Performs plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry work.
- Maintains Cormax® and Best® key locking system
- Unstops sewer lines and repairs plumbing fixtures and lines.
- Replaces water closets and sinks.
- Replaces light fixtures, plugs, breakers and bulbs.
- Repairs and replaces windows, interior/exterior doors, broken windows and screens.
- Replaces flooring, cabinetry and countertops.
- Performs grounds maintenance.
- Operates hand tools, electrical equipment and gas-powered equipment.
- Responsible for taking after-hour emergency calls on a rotating shift.
- Complies with the OSHA guidelines and regulations.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical and carpentry trades.
- Possess a broad knowledge of building maintenance techniques.
- Ability to execute all repairs, maintenance and modernization tasks in compliance with building codes and HUD NSPIRE expectations.
- Operate all power tools safely and using PPE.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid Virginia or North Carolina driver's license
