What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver's Education Teacher (Summer Only) .5 FTE position at Danville School?
Danville School is seeking a part-time Drivers Education Teacher to provide classroom instruction and prepare students for their Vermont driver's licenses this summer. This position includes classroom instruction and driving time with students to complete required driving hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Classroom Instruction: Instructs students in classroom-based drivers education, covering traffic laws, road safety, and responsible driving practices.
• Behind-the-Wheel Training: Provides in-car driving instruction to students, focusing on skill development and safe driving habits.
• Learning Environment: Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
• Behavior Standards: Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of safety and responsibility.
• Goal Setting: Guides students through the process of obtaining their learners permit and/or drivers license.
• Student Evaluation: Assesses students knowledge and driving skills through written assessments and practical driving evaluations.
• Communication: Maintains regular communication with students, parents/guardians, and school staff regarding student progress.
• Safety Compliance: Ensures that all instruction adheres to Vermont state laws and safety regulations for drivers education.
Requirements
• Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.
• Endorsement in Driver Education (30) or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.
• Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience teaching at the high school level.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching driver education classes and providing in-car driving instruction.
• Knowledge of current Vermont regulations and programs related to drivers education.
• Experience in differentiating instruction and planning curriculum using 'backwards design' and formative assessments.
• Demonstrated ability to incorporate technology into classroom instruction.
• Knowledge of best practices regarding frameworks of student behavioral support.
