Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Dental Director, the Dentist is responsible for providing daily dental care in the Dental Clinic to DAP Health patients.
The primary focus of the Dental Clinic is dental services for FQHC clients who may not otherwise have options for dental care. The clinic provides general dentistry in accordance with MediCal and Ryan White Grant requirements for patients age 18 and above. Procedures include restoration (fillings), crown and core build-ups, extractions, dentures, root canals and providing comprehensive treatment plans. Job Status: Full-time, Salaried Exempt
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provides day-to-day dental services to patients in the dental clinic.
- Provides appropriate dental care with an emphasis on culturally sensitive chair-side manner.
- Provides appropriate dental care to patients according to established standards of care. Adheres to the standards of dental practice in the community and all federal, state and local governmental statutes, rules and regulations and agency policies and procedures, including but not limited to, sterilization procedures, infection control practices, safety practices, medication administration, and other clinical practices.
- Administers, maintains and expands dental services at DAP Health.
- Develops and oversees progress towards annual quality improvement goals and participates as a member of the Quality Improvement Committee.
- Ensures the most efficient delivery of dental services in a safe and caring environment for all clients.
- Ensures adherence by all dental staff to HIPAA standards and requirements.
- Records all examinations, treatment plans, procedures and other dental services performed for patients by Dentist in EMR platform. The electronic dental record shall contain sufficient information to identify the patient, support the diagnosis, justify the treatment, document the course and results, facilitate appropriate charges and facilitate continuity of care among health care providers.
- Counsels patients regarding problems and course of treatment.
- Accesses patient-protected health information as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supports and models the identified vision, values, and behaviors of the organization.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in preventative and restorative dental treatment procedures.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern dentistry and its application, techniques, procedures, and equipment.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills and qualities.
Education and Experience:
- Active and unrestricted license to practice dentistry issued by the California Board of Dental Examiners;
- DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school;
- Current Controlled Substances Registration Certification issued by the Drug Enforcement Administration;
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross accredited BLS certification.
- Experience working with a non-profit FQHC Dental clinic.
Experience working with LGBTQ community, homeless and those with substance use conditions
Salary : $168,032 - $178,000
