Pre-School Assistant Teacher

Holly Pond School runs from Sept to June catering to the needs of children and parents alike. The program provides a structured environment in which children can participate in scheduled learning activities each day. This innovative and modern program currently has a part time positions available:
Monday – Friday: 8:45am – 3pm
(Option to work full schedule stated above, or T-Th-F 8:45am-12pm, or M-F 12-3pm)
The Assistant Teacher will help provide a quality learning experience and foster each child’s social, physical, emotional, and cognitive growth as well as assist in the daily aspects of the classroom program and care of the children under the guidance of the Head Teacher and Director.
Some additional exciting duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Teacher include (but are not limited to):
- Always ensure the safety and well-being of the children. Create and maintain a safe and healthy setting that fosters social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of children and respects their dignity and contributions.
- Follow and implement established program practices based upon current knowledge in the field of child development and upon particular knowledge of each child.
- Assist children during clean up time.
- Ensure children’s belongings are removed from cubby and packed into backpack prior to daily dismissal.
- Respect the dignity, worth and uniqueness of each individual (child, family member and colleague).
- Help prepare activities and projects to be offered to the children.
- Communicate pertinent information obtained through contact with parents and children to the Head Teacher.
Qualifications
- Minimum of eighteen (18) years old.
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalency certificate or at least five hundred and forty (540) hours documented experience in working with children (unrelated to you) of the same age(s) to be served in this program.
- Minimum 1 year experience working in a classroom/daycare setting preferred.
- Must submit to and pass state background check and fingerprint screening.
- Possess effective written and verbal communication.
- Must be able to visually observe children during active and passive pursuits. Must be willing and able to read aloud age appropriate books and text to classroom children.
- Ability to properly instruct children and maintain a cohesive learning environment.
- Ability to work as a team with teachers and staff.
- Must be responsive and flexible to the needs of the program.
