What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior AWS GovCloud Engineer position at Dark Wolf Solutions?
Dark Wolf Solutions is seeking a Senior AWS GovCloud Engineer who will be responsible for designing, delivering, and managing AWS GovCloud-based IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS type solutions for our customers. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of configuring AWS GovCloud services and common enterprise software technologies in accordance with FedRAMP, NIST, and other security requirements guides. The candidate will be responsible for interfacing directly with customers, liaising with product vendors, and leading junior engineers in the DevSecOps process. The candidate will be expected to perform both independently and as a team member in “open engineering” tasks that require full R&D for greenfield solutions. This position will be a hybrid remote position with onsite/travel requirements near Melbourne, FL. This position is also open to candidates who reside in proximity to our Herndon, VA, Colorado Springs, CO, Tampa, FL, San Antonio, TX, or Ogden, UT offices with quarterly business travel expectations. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Architecting and engineering full spectrum solutions in hardened operating environments at the application, OS, and cloud service levels.
- Interfacing with customers to translate business requirements into production solutions.
- Performing legacy workload discoveries and leading cloud migration and modernization efforts.
- Documenting and codifying solution deliveries within a DevSecOps cycle.
- Performing holistic financial analysis of cloud-based workloads to identify and implement cost and usage efficiencies.
- Market research and testing of best-fit technologies to meet customer requirements.
- Leading and training junior developers in technical delivery requirements for government customers.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Cloud Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or 10 years of equivalent industry experience.
- 3 years of experience developing solutions in AWS GovCloud and/or one of the following cloud platforms: CloudOne/PlatformOne, DAFCloudWorks, FENCES, ODIN, etc.
- Experience integrating at least three of the following technology categories:
- AWS GovCloud – VPC, EC2, RDS, S3, KMS, AWS Organizations, IAM, IAM Identity Center, ECS, EKS, Inspector, Systems Manager, Workspaces, Appstream, Direct Connect, Outposts, Diode, AWS CLI/Boto3.
- Operating Systems – RHEL 8, Amazon Linux 2023, Windows Server 2019 , Bottlerocket
- SaaS Products – Okta, Zscaler Private Access, SmartSheets
- Software – Gitlab, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Palo Alto NGFW & Panorama
- Programmatic Tools – Gitlab-CI, Terraform/OpenTofu, Ansible, Bash, Powershell, Windows Group Policy
- Containers – Docker, Kubernetes, NueVector, Kyverno, Cilium, SonarQube
- U.S. Citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active U.S. Federal Government security clearance.
- Master’s degree in Cloud Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Proficient in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Ruby, etc.
- Associate or Professional level AWS certification.
- Experience working with customers in the U.S. Public Sector.
We are looking for mid level experience, $160,000.00 - $185,000.00, commensurate on experience and technical skillset.
