What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Start Family Services Specialist position at DARLINGTON COUNTY COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY?
The Family Services Specialist facilitates and directs a quality case management system that promotes and produces comprehensive services to children and families enrolled in the program, which ensures that their needs, desires, and goals are reached to their highest potential.
Essential Job Responsibilities and Performance Indicators:
- Recruit, enroll, and obtain appropriate records of children and families to ensure full enrollment and waitlists at all times.
- Implement the plan for the recruitment and enrollment of children with disabilities.
- Assists with the completion of the child health screening and all other required screenings and assessments as deemed necessary.
- Develop collaborative relationships with community partners; represent Head Start at community events as needed.
- Assist families in the development of family partnership goals by providing recommendations and referrals for relevant community resources.
- Coordinates with center staff to integrate family partnership goals with classroom efforts and ensure an integrated child and family curriculum.
- Coordinate parent meetings, workshops, committee meetings, and volunteer activities.
- On-going Monitoring and Data Management: work with families to ensure all required paperwork is completed and on time; perform daily data entry into our case management database; monitor data regularly to ensure compliance with program standards.
- While respecting family confidentiality, regularly shares information with teachers to ensure coordinated services that meet individual children and family's needs.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Skills and Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in human services or a related field is preferred, or a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field is received within eighteen months of hire.
- Demonstrated working knowledge in the usage of a desktop computer system and computer entry of client data.
- Possess a valid South Carolina driver's license.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to adapt quickly and positively to changing demands, stressful situations, and multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent critical thinking, organization, and analytical skills.
- Ability to pass background checks and health screening.
