Darlington School is seeking a creative and motivated Communications Intern to support the work of the Communication Office for the Fall 2025 semester. This internship is ideal for a rising junior or senior undergraduate student hoping to gain experience in content creation, social media management, audio and video production, writing for web and social media, and related skills. Under the direction of the Director of Content Strategy and Engagement, the Communications Intern will gain hands-on work experience, professional mentorship, and pieces to add to a professional portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in management of the school’s social media platforms, including content creation, writing and scheduling posts, and tracking engagement;
- Brainstorm and create fresh social media content to help the school reach a variety of key audiences;
- Capture photo and video of school events, student activities, and campus life for social media content;
- Edit short- and long-form videos for social media;
- Monitor social media trends to inform content strategy;
- Collaborate with departments across campus to develop and implement social media and web campaigns for outreach, event promotion, and more;
- Assist in production of The Darlington Podcast;
- Assist in developing and managing website content including blogs, news stories, and galleries;
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed.
Job Requirements
- Junior or senior undergraduate student pursuing a degree in the field of communication, journalism, public relations, marketing, or other related field;
- Strong writing skills and knowledge of Associated Press style guidelines;
- Ability to develop target messages for the appropriate medium;
- Proficiency in social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok);
- Basic photography and video editing skills;
- Familiarity with design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite);
- Creative, motivated and flexible;
- Ability to take projects from concept to completion in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Keen attention to detail;
- Commitment to working on a team.
Work Hours & Pay: 10 hours/week, $10/hour
- Most work will occur during the school’s regular hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., but some after-hours or weekend event work may be requested of you for major events such as Alumni Weekend.
