GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsibilities related to quality product, materials control, equipment performance, and technical training in Extrusion and Thermoforming department.
Strategically plan, execute, and ensure the foam extrusion process controls through continuous monitoring of all management indicators, optimizing production processes, minimizing operational costs, provide technical training, implement best practice process (operation and material control), and develop/implement IOT/visual production management systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engages team by developing improvement plans and training with the assistance of the department ops manager. Creates an environment in which team members can find new ways of motivating themselves considering our organization’s changing needs. Regularly celebrate successes and learns from mistakes while making it safe for others to take risks and volunteer innovative recommendations.
- Creates continuous improvement of the extrusion processes considering the KPIS, unit cost, variations, OEE, OTIF, master plan, compliance with production programs, maintenance, reduction generation and scrap inventories based on current experience from Darnel manufacturing facilities. Implement company specific best practice process from facilities outside of US.
- Develops, implements, and plans, process control improvement, process training, and material optimization. Leading to material scrap reduction, operation cost reduction, improve machine uptime, develop technical team knowledge.
- Provides structure, direction, and feedback to ensure an elevated level of group performance. Supports our organization’s strategic plan and ensures that business practices are consistent with our mission.

- Develops and implements visual management, electronic control/display, electronic process data capture, and performance data display systems utilizing specific IOT experience.
- Works closely with leadership team to establish safety and standards. Monitors, follows and recommends safety improvements needed to meet OSHA, EHS and EPA guidelines and reporting requirements. Develops and initiates the direction and necessary resources to establish leading edge safety and environmental performance objectives.
- Implements Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing practices. Works closely with the Quality Manager to maintain the highest level of quality standards to improve overall product quality and decrease waste. Ensures standards for product quality and equipment performance are maintained and that cost-effective technology is used to optimize production.
- Manages the quality of incoming materials, reprocessed materials, and components. Oversees the check of product measurements, chemical content, purity and other qualities of parts, assemblies, or product to ensure process control is maintained.
- Establishes processes control standards and quality programs within overall direction set by senior management. Exercises judgment in dealing with unusual cases or those involving significant cost. Works closely with design, training, and process development of staff to improve the quality of products.
- Motivates staff according to company policies and employment laws and ensures HR procedures and employee relations policies are followed. Conducts performance appraisals and discipline as needed.
Requirements
JOB SPECIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science or equivalent engineering or comparable experience required.
5 years of experience in Manufacturing Management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
PHYSICALS DEMANDS:
Normal Office and lifting up to 25 lb. as needed during course of day.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal Office and frequent visits to manufacturing areas as required.
