What are the responsibilities and job description for the QC Inspector/ Auditor (8pm-8am shift) position at Darnel Inc?
GENERAL SUMMARY:
With readily available supervision, performs repetitive inspection following standardized methods and procedures. Visually inspects or checks finished parts using a variety of precision measuring instruments or against fixed samples.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs first piece checking on all newly set up product lines.
- Periodically performs quality checks on all operating product lines in Extrusion, Thermoforming and Pulp departments. Reports out-of-spec products to line operator as well as supervisor.
- Works closely with supervisor in go, no-go quality decisions.
- Keeps accurate daily records of quality tested materials and provides copies to the Plant/QA Manager and Shift Supervisor.
- Checks dimensions and finishes against work order specifications.
- Inspectors may recommend adjustments to correct rejected parts or assist with other production activities.
- Checks color, finish, dimensions, hardness, density or other measurable or observable characteristics of foam or pulp.
PHYSICALS DEMANDS:
- Vision correctable to 20/20.
- Lifting up to 25 lb. from floor to waist high.
- Frequent bending and stooping.
- Frequent standing the majority of the 12-hour shift.
- Use a utility knife following prescribed safety regulations.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Lighting is good and temperatures will be hot in summer and cold in the winter. Earplugs, eye protection, steel toed shoes and hair nets are required in the production area. Gloves, face-shield and other various types of protective equipment must be worn when working around the machinery.
Requirements:- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1-year experience in implementing Quality systems and processes in manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, team building, and communication skills, as well as computer skills required for documenting findings.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and internet.
- Requires the ability to plan and perform a sequence of operations where standards and recognized operation methods are available and the making of general decisions regarding quality.
- Forklift certification preferred.
- Must be able to read, use and calibrate measurement instruments.
- Read, write and have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken and perform complex math.
