Position Overview
The primary duty of the Ranch Hand is to help the Ranch Manager manage the day-to-day operations of a private ranch in Glen Rose, Texas. This is a 2000 acre ranch with multiple buildings to maintain, along with the property and equipment.
Reporting & Supporting Positions:
The Ranch Hand will report directly to the Ranch Manager.
Working Hours:
Mon.-Fri. 8-hour shifts
7:30am-4:00pm
*Additional hours on weekends may be required as needed
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
· Responsible for all ranch operations for safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness in a professional manner.
· Perform and help oversee all maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of property, to include but not limited to buildings, equipment, vehicles, tools, and landscape.
· General facility maintenance to include maintenance, repairs, and painting.
· Ensure that all equipment and machines are operational in a safe and professional manner.
· Maintain and build game fences, cross fences, and water gaps. Eliminate brush adjacent to improvements.
· Responsible for planting food plots.
· Oversee wildlife management practices as desired.
· Perform and oversee construction projects as directed.
· Safely operate power hand tools, chainsaws, and complete maintenance and repairs on the lawn mower and hand tools.
· Operate farm equipment, riding lawn mower, and weed eater.
· Other assignments and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Education, Skills, and Professionalism
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- A valid Texas Driver’s License is required.
- Professional in appearance and manners always.
- Basic electrical, plumbing repair, carpentry, and equipment mechanic experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience helping manage a working ranch similar in size.
- Must have experience safely operating tractors and similar ranch equipment.
- Must be a self-starter, professional who can work independently and take initiative without needing guidance or direction from a supervisor.
- Must be motivated, organized, efficient, punctual, and dependable.
Working Conditions
The majority of the working day will be spent outdoors in all weather conditions throughout the year.
Physical Requirements and Work Content
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.
Physical requirements include walking, climbing, lifting, reaching, pushing for most of the working day. It is required to lift 50 pounds. Normal vision, good English speaking and hearing will help in face-to-face communication.
