Job Title: Large CNC Operator (Wood & Laminate)
Location: High Point, NC
Job Summary:
DARRAN, a leading manufacturer of high-quality furniture, is seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Operator to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining one of our large CNC machines to precisely cut and shape wood and laminate components for our furniture products. This role requires a strong understanding of CNC programming, machine operation, quality control, and preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities:

CNC Machine Operation:
- Operate a CNC router to machine wood and laminate parts according to specifications (SCM Pod and Rail, Homag Bore and Dowel, and Homag Flatbed Router)
- Load and unload raw materials and finished parts efficiently and safely.
- Set up and adjust machine parameters, if necessary, to machine parts accurately.
- Verify program accuracy and make necessary adjustments to ensure precise cutting and shaping, if required.
- Run test cuts as needed to prove out new programs.

Quality Control and Inspection:
- Inspect machined parts to ensure they meet quality standards and match engineering drawings.
- Utilize precision measuring tools (calipers, measuring tape) to verify dimensions and tolerances.
- Identify and report any discrepancies or defects in materials or finished parts.

Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform routine preventative maintenance (PMs) on CNC machines, including cleaning, lubrication, and tool changes.
- Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and identify potential issues.
- Notify maintenance personnel of any major repairs or equipment problems.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area around the CNC machine.

Programming and Documentation:
- Read and interpret CNC programs, engineering drawings, and work orders.
- Verify that the CNC programs align with parts drawings.
- Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
- Assist with program editing when required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree preferred.
- Proven experience operating large CNC routers or similar CNC machinery.
- Strong understanding of CNC programming (G-code)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality control skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and preventative maintenance procedures.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials (50 lbs)
- Experience with wood and laminate machining is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and reach.
