Lead SolidWorks Engineer - Wood Furniture Manufacturing

Description

Product Development, Engineering and Design: 

• Utilize SolidWorks for product design and modifications, ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability and efficiency.   

• Collaborate with designers to ensure manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction of new products. 

• Oversee the production process from prototype to full-scale manufacturing making sure production managers and pattern makers produce within established guidelines and requirements. 

• Help resolve production bottlenecks and optimize workflows, ensuring that engineering designs are implemented accurately during production.  

• Act as a key point of communication between the engineering and manufacturing teams to address any challenges or adjustments required.  

• Ensure product quality is maintained throughout the production lifecycle.  

• Along with Director of Engineering, lead product development team to ensure products meet financial targets. 

• Collaborate with procurement on development projects. 

• Ensure necessary resources (manpower, equipment, materials) are available for timely project completion.  

• Utilize existing ERP systems to track resources, manage inventory, and monitor project costs.   

Project Management, Guidance and Standards: 

• Lead and coordinate projects, ensuring alignment with program goals, timelines, and budgets.  Monitor project/program progress in ASANA. 

• Ensure engineering documents match DARRAN SOP’s and quality assurance expectations and industry standards. 

• Review drawings produced by team members and their quality ensuring appropriate checking & review of all documents / drawings before release at any revision status. 

• Provide technical guidance on materials, production methods, and testing.  

• Ensure compliance with safety, ergonomic, and sustainability standards.  

Continuous Improvement:  

•  Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.  

• Apply lessons learned from previous projects to future initiatives. 

• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and materials to improve product offerings. 

• Responsible for the change management process. Lead the ECN process and documentation. 

• Identify and communicate to the Director of Engineering training needs of other team members.
