Position Purpose
Working in close collaboration with the Senior Accounting Specialist, the Accounting Specialist ensures the timely and accurate processing of all financial transactions for the departmental and student organizations, by developing and implementing processes, providing staff support, and reconciling accounts and correcting errors.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp
Associates plus 2-3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Associate’s degree with business or accounting courses, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2-3 years financial experience, working in a higher-education setting preferred.
- Accuracy with numbers and accounting.
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize, balance competing demands and meet deadlines in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills.
- Desire to learn and utilize computer applications and processes that help to continuously improve office effectiveness and systems.
- Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience working in a higher-education setting and/or with college students.
- Familiarity with College financial management systems or Oracle applications.

Provides guidance to student organizations, including the Council on Student Organizations, the Programming Board, and Special Programs and Events Committee, by assisting with financial transactions and account management, and helping to navigate relevant College processes and policies. Maintains the Student Organization Financial Procedures Guide and the “Treasurer’s Corner” document resource and website.
