Position Purpose
The Spanish Language Teacher is a Dartmouth College employee, directly supported and mentored by Dartmouth’s Rassias Center and immersed at New England Innovation Academy (NEIA) with school roles and teaching responsibilities at NEIA. The Spanish Teacher will teach in the language programs for middle and high school (day and boarding) students enrolled at New England Innovation Academy (NEIA).
This Regular position with end date is located at the New England Innovation Academy in Marlborough, Massachusetts.
Full-time residency at NEIA as a “dorm parent” is an option for the appropriate candidate, in which case housing would be provided in a NEIA residence hall and meals would be provided when students are on campus.

- Fluency in Spanish
- Committed to understanding and working within the philosophy of NEIA, Dartmouth College, and the Rassias Center.
- Familiarity with and/or desire to be trained in the Rassias Method® of language instruction.
- Experience mentoring/teaching middle or high school age youth (e.g. camp counseling, trip leading, tutoring, volunteering).
- Ability and desire to work in an entrepreneurial academic environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work with professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, equity, honesty, and personal accountability at all times. Ability to efficiently and effectively manage the time of self and others.
- In the event that the candidate assumes residential life responsibilities, willingness and ability to live in a dorm on the same floor with students and to serve as a dorm parent performing associated duties is required.
- Proficiency or ability to develop proficiency in educational technology.
- Demonstrated ability to create a welcoming and supportive community for a diverse student body.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with the Rassias Method as a student or instructor (teaching assistant).
- Special talent(s) that will benefit the NEIA community.
- Eligibility to work in the United States required.

Description
Lesson Planning & Mentoring – Under the direction of the HI and a Lead Teacher, develops proficiency in Rassias teaching techniques and incorporates them into lesson plans; communicates drill materials to Assistant Teachers; participates in Rassias Method training before classes begin and throughout the academic year; assures proper delivery of Rassias Method and adheres to Intellectual Property Agreement.

Teaching Responsibilities - Teaches two to three sections of language classes to students enrolled at the NEIA. Observes other NEIA staff in the classroom as a learning experience and is observed and mentored by HI, Lead Teacher, and peers.

Institutional Collaboration with NEIA – Works collaboratively and creatively with colleagues in various curricular areas and divisions, investing in the life of the school by participating in the advisory program, social and emotional learning, weekly department meetings, and multidisciplinary team meetings, anti-bias training, residential life, and in support of the student experience. Attends NEIA staff orientation and ongoing in-service workshops.
