Overview

The Dartmouth Cancer Center (DCC) at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine and Dartmouth-Health invite applications from accomplished board-certified clinician-scientists to lead the establishment of an Immune Cell Therapy Program at the Dartmouth Cancer Center.  We seek an outstanding and collaborative individual with an established track record of innovative translational research focusing on cellular therapy of cancer.  

 

This individual will work closely with leaders of the Cancer Center’s Immunology and Cancer Immunotherapy Research Program and the Transplant and Cellular Therapy Clinical Program to launch investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored studies involving immune-cell-based treatments, including CAR T cell and Tumor Infiltrating Lymphocyte (TIL)-based platforms. A generous start-up package is being offered, including funding for resources and facilities, support personnel, with extensive protected time to pursue independent basic and clinical research interests. Dartmouth has a long-standing history of seminal discoveries in immunotherapy, including first-in-human trials of next-generation immune checkpoint inhibitor drugs and cancer vaccines, as well as robust ongoing research programs in memory T cells, CAR T cells, myeloid cells, and tumor microenvironment.

 

DCC is one of 57 NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and offers a dynamic and interactive research and clinical environment, with a commitment to research excellence commensurate with Dartmouth’s status as an R1 Doctoral University in the Carnegie Classification. The Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program is FACT-approved for allogenic, autologous and CAR T Cell Therapy. The Program also serves as an NMDP transplant and apheresis center.

 

 

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Dartmouth College, and DCC are located in the picturesque upper Connecticut River Valley on the New Hampshire/Vermont border and are surrounded by a vibrant academic and professional community offering excellent schools, lively arts, and an unmatched quality of life, in a beautiful rural setting. Additional amenities associated with urban areas in Boston MA, Burlington VT, and Montreal, QC are all within a few hours’ drive.

Responsibilities
Qualifications

The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities, including vibrant NCI-funded Immune Monitoring, Genomics, and Computational Biology Shared Resources. The candidate’s research program will also benefit from thriving multidisciplinary Cancer Biology and Immunology graduate programs, as well as access to trainees within the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program. Cancer Center members also benefit from collegial interactions across the entirety of Dartmouth College and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health System, inclusive of other departments at Geisel, the Thayer School of Engineering, the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies, the School of Arts & Sciences and the Tuck School of Business.

 

Applicants for this position should possess an M.D., D.O., or M.D/Ph.D. degree (or equivalent), clinical board certification, and an established track record of research accomplishments in cell therapy of cancer. Expertise and a track record of peer-reviewed funding in CAR T cell, tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL), or related cellular therapy platforms is desired. The prospective individual should also have experience in conducting clinical trials and clinical expertise in cellular therapy.


Required Licensure/Certifications

- Completion of an approved fellowship program in oncology and/or hematology with board eligible/board certification in this specialty and experience in the clinical care of Hematology/Oncology patients. - Significant knowledge of translational and clinical cancer research and its application to cancer drug development. Working knowledge of key areas of early drug development (biology, chemistry, pharmacology) and/ or experience in clinical drug development, specifically conducting early phase clinical trials.
