This individual will join an academic practice of seven physicians providing cardiac care to children and adults in both New Hampshire and Vermont, and will be primarily based at Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinics in Manchester, NH. Clinical responsibilities will primarily be centered around outpatient clinic partnered with an ACHD APRN, as well as occasional inpatient consultation with the adult cardiology team at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and shared call coverage. This cardiologist will work closely with the Boston Adult Congenital Heart (BACH) service with monthly combined clinics and weekly care conferences discussing medical plans of this complex patient population.

Unique aspects of this ACHD position:

  • Academic position with excellent work-life balance
  • Opportunities for leadership within a multidisciplinary, collaborative ACHD team with an established patient panel
  • Excellent location with lower cost of living 50 miles away from Boston
  • Stable, competitive salary based on high quality patient-centered care rather than productivity focused metrics

Dartmouth Health Children’s provides an extended system of care with primary, specialty, and advanced tertiary pediatric services, including an inpatient pediatric unit with PICU, level II Pediatric Trauma Center, and level IV NICU at its flagship Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (CHaD) in Lebanon, New Hampshire.  Dartmouth Health Children’s also operates a comprehensive ambulatory specialty center at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinic in Manchester, NH, the largest city in the state, and 10 pediatric primary care medical homes across the region. Dartmouth Health Children’s is committed to addressing racism and other forms of oppression that prevent all children and adolescents from living their healthiest, happiest lives.

Teaching residents and medical students is expected, so eligibility for appointment to the faculty at The Geisel School of Medicine is required, at a rank commensurate with experience and academic portfolio. Academic opportunities in child health across Dartmouth's campuses include a site for the IDeA States Pediatric Clinical Trials Network, the Children’s Environmental Health and Disease Research Center, the Dartmouth Trauma Interventions Research Center, preventive regulatory sciences at the C. Everett Koop Institute, a nascent international center for vaccine science, and renowned leadership in quality improvement, outcome, and healthcare delivery sciences at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice (TDI).

Dartmouth Health Children’s is the pediatric service of Dartmouth Health, an integrated academic healthcare delivery system for northern New England anchored by Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC). DHMC is recognized by US News & World Report as the Best Hospital in NH and is home to over 50 graduate medical education programs, NHs only Level 1 Trauma Center and air ambulance service, the Dartmouth Cancer Center (a National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center), TDI, and CHaD.

Faculty at Dartmouth enjoy the rare opportunity to combine high level academic medicine with a serene and stress-free living environment. Lebanon is part of the Upper Connecticut River Valley, home to Dartmouth College and its abundant cultural and enrichment activities. Greater Manchester is often ranked among the best small cities in the United States for quality of life. With destinations like Boston, New York, Montreal, the seacoast and ski country within short driving distance, this is an ideal place to thrive in work, play, and life.
