Overview
Acts as the primary coordinator for the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP). Coordinates bone marrow and peripheral stem cell donation activities for healthy donors and sibling donors at D-H.
Responsibilities
Works with D-H Insurance Information Coordinators to ensure accurate donor billing.
Receives referrals for stem cell and bone marrow donors, ensures referrals are complete, and schedules donors for evaluations.
Works with apheresis department and operating room to schedule donors for collection.
Escorts donors to various appointments to ensure completion of all testing.
Labels and ships required blood specimens to designated laboratories.
Maintains donor records, documentation, completion, and submission of all forms to the donor center.
Submits annual NMDP reaccreditation data for apheresis and collection center.
Completes and maintains Human Subjects Protection Training and accountability to donors.
Serves as the primary contact for NMDP and disseminate information to BMT team.
Responsible for all apheresis center and collection center user access for the NMDP Network website and operational manuals.
Coordinates community requests for bone marrow drives.
Responds to queries on the donation process or joining the registry.
Assists BMT Nurse Coordinators related transplant activities including, submission of recipient updates to the NMDP via formsnet, scanning of consents and outside records, assisting in prior authorization for transplant related medications, etc.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 2 years of administrative support experience, or the equivalent in education and experience required.
Proven experience working with the public required.
Previous experience working in a medical setting and knowledge of medical terminology required.
Experience with Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
