Overview
The Director of Behavioral Services is responsible for providing clinical oversight and authorization of behavior treatment programs at Hampstead Hospital Residential Treatment Facility (HHRTF). In addition, this role provides initial functional assessments, develops behavior support plans, assists in the training of staff and families, and administers and oversees implementation of the plans.
Responsibilities
Oversees, monitors and provides clinical oversight of all behavioral programming and the operations and direction of Behavioral Services. Authorizes and ensures these services are well coordinated and integrated with other psychiatric, medical and psychosocial treatments and other hospital programs.
Serves as the facility Workplace Violence Prevention Coordinator and leads the Emergency Response Team, overseeing the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of Workplace Violence Prevention training programs. Collaborates with managers, directors, clinical staff, security and safety personnel to provide educational activities that support the adoption and implementation of Prevention training.
Performs functional behavioral assessments of new admissions and develops a behavior support plan for assigned patients. Provides direct-care clinical services and consultation, including psychological testing and therapeutic interventions for complex and difficult cases, and as determined by organizational need.
Provides training and supervision of direct care staff in the implementation of behavior support plans.
Develops and oversees processes for the management of personnel resources, including recruiting, hiring/terminating, orienting and evaluating employees, maintaining clinical competencies, and quality monitoring of employee performance. Identifies issues and facilitates resolutions of problems; coaches/trains staff to improve performance, takes disciplinary actions when indicated to ensure provision of high-quality clinical psychology services to patients and stakeholders. Provides ongoing assessment and allocation of human and material resources that meet organizational and clinical needs.
Analyzes behavioral data and adjusts behavior plans/programs as needed.
Establishes, promotes and maintains collaborative relationships with Behavioral Services members, all other hospital departments, outside agencies, vendors and/consultants to promote achievement of hospital goals, fostering a positive organizational culture. Consistently promotes and demonstrates adherence to the hospital's core values of integrity, collaboration, compassion, excellence and being person-centered.
Provides education and presents research to internal and external stakeholders, including parents and families, to support high-quality psychological services to people with complex psychological needs. Collaborates to identify and support research efforts of the agency.
Interacts with representatives of other agencies representing the psychology department’s clinical training/internship programs.
Monitors, oversees, and directs the quality and appropriateness of all documentation to ensure compliance with all Joint Commission and Medicare standards.
Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with major study in behavior analysis, psychology or a related field.
Eight years of experience in applied behavior analysis, or experience in a behavioral treatment setting, five years of which must have been in a management level position involving administrative or supervisory duties concerned with program administration, program planning and evaluation, business management or related management experience.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institute of higher education with major study in behavior analysis, psychology or a related field.
Nine years of experience in applied behavior analysis, or experience in a behavioral treatment setting, five years of which must have been in a management level position involving administrative or supervisory duties concerned.
