What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant position at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center?
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Interact with patients at all levels of care in the ophthalmology clinic.
- Recognize and comply with all national, local, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures with regard to patient privacy and safety.
- Prepare patients to see the eye care provider by performing comprehensive intake examinations. This includes (but is not limited to) collection and documentation of patient health and eye history, testing of visual acuity, visual fields, pupils, intraocular pressure, manual lensometry, manual and automated refraction (without prescribing), and administration of pharmacologic agents.
- Prepare patient, room, supplies, and equipment for exams and procedures.
- Inventory, cleaning, care, and maintenance of ophthalmic supplies, equipment, and exam rooms.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of policies and procedures for technical and clinical activities.
- Assist fellow staff and physicians with daily tasks.
- Accept training for advanced skills.
- Maintain current certification status.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
