Cloud Finops Specialist

Seattle, WA

Looking for a Cloud FinOps Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in cloud cost management and optimization, financial analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure that cloud usage is cost-efficient, transparent, and aligned with business goals. As a Cloud FinOps Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing cloud spend, implementing cost controls, and providing financial insights to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Monitor, track, and report on cloud infrastructure usage and associated costs, ensuring alignment with budget and business objectives.
  • Work with finance and technical teams to forecast cloud spend, track trends, and provide actionable insights to improve cost efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and cloud optimization by analyzing usage patterns and recommending adjustments to cloud resources.
  • Work closely with engineering, development, and IT teams to ensure cloud resource usage is optimized and aligned with business needs while balancing performance and cost.
  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards and reports to provide stakeholders with clear visibility into cloud expenditures, trends, and optimization opportunities.
  • Implement and manage tagging and cost allocation strategies to ensure accurate tracking of cloud costs by department, project, or product.
  • Drive continuous improvement in cloud financial operations, ensuring efficient processes, controls, and governance around cloud spending.
  • Ensure that cloud usage complies with internal financial controls and organizational standards, and track compliance with cloud vendor agreements.
  • Collaborate with cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.) to manage contracts, negotiate pricing, and ensure optimal terms for the organization.
  • Provide training and support to teams on best practices for cost-effective cloud usage and financial management.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 years of experience in cloud financial management (Cloud FinOps, Cloud Cost Management, or similar roles).
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) and their cost management tools (e.g., AWS Cost Explorer, Azure Cost Management).
  • Experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and budget management.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data and trends.
  • Familiarity with cloud optimization tools (e.g., CloudHealth, CloudCheckr, Spot, etc.) is a plus.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with finance, engineering, and business teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on process improvement and cost optimization.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with cloud billing and cost allocation strategies.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and cloud-native architectures.
  • Certification in Cloud Financial Management (e.g., FinOps Certified Practitioner).
  • Experience with automation and scripting for cost management (e.g., Python, Terraform).
