We are seeking an experienced, organized, and detail-oriented Laboratory Supervisor with strong leadership skills to facilitate and delegate tasks to laboratory staff. This role includes ensuring safe, accurate, and timely testing of incoming samples as well as maintaining quality control protocols and oversight of compliance within CLIA-COLA requirements.
What you’ll do:
- Responsible for the management, facilitation, and productivity of laboratory technologists including conducting regular performance reviews.
- Facilitate testing workflows of patient samples and ensure that patient data is accurate and secure.
- Relay results, expectations, timelines, and strategies to company leadership.
- Assist Lab Manager with conducting meetings and presentations
- Ensure the review of test results for accuracy and completeness.
- Delegate tasks within the laboratory and oversee all ongoing testing and quality control projects.
- Ensure that laboratory methods are performed according to standard operating procedures.
- Assist the implementation, monitoring, and calibration of all laboratory equipment through establishment and promotion of consistent standards of use.
- Review, develop, and implement current and future laboratory operations to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Onboard, train, and oversee technologists and perform competency assessments
- Maintain schedule to accommodate last-minute changes, including scheduled and unscheduled absences.
What you have:
- Master’s Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, chemical, physical, or biological science AND four years of supervising in high complexity testing in the respective specialty OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in medical technology, chemical, physical, or biological science AND six years supervising experience in high complexity testing in the respective specialty
What you’ll bring:
- At least six years of laboratory supervisory experience (lead or supervisor) OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Understanding of and ability to perform molecular diagnostic laboratory testing with an advanced understanding of laboratory instrumentation.
- Experience working with Applied Biosystems QuantStudio Real-Time PCR Systems is a plus.
- Familiar with CLIA requirements.
- Familiarity with COLA and FDA requirements is a plus.
- Strong analytical thinking, decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management and organization skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience facilitating others.
- Comfortable working in and capable of setting priorities in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
