SUMMARY:
The Retail Sales Associate provides a variety of CPAP Central Store services to its patients which may include equipment/supply consult and education, equipment evaluation and repair, order processing, coordinating the delivery of products and services and general retail sales customer service. The role also handles a variety of tasks in support of day-to-day store operations, such as inventory, records-keeping, office maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides accurate, thorough and courteous education about equipment, supplies and services to patients via timely handling of inbound calls to the store and face-to-face interactions at the store.
- Provides accurate information about insurance coverage, payment options, warranties, repairs and replacement options.
- Patiently assists in-store visitors interested in purchasing equipment and/or supplies, advises on the care and maintenance of same.
- Accurately creates patient record, obtains necessary information per policy and procedure, prepares orders for timely and accurate billing.
- Supports and/or manages store operation functions such as inventory, records-keeping, office maintenance and cleaning, remains compliant with all applicable policies and procedural compliance with HIPAA, The Joint Commission, State Respiratory Care Board, State Pharmacy Board and all other applicable rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned by the store manager.
Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- Six month’s experience in a customer service role
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s degree in related field.
- One year experience in healthcare/medical/insurance/DME customer service role

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This may be a full time or part time position, and hours of work and days are assigned by the store manager to meet the needs of the store and its customers. The store is open Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Work hours typically extend beyond store hours.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no supervisory role.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates primarily in a professional retail setting with a clinical emphasis. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is typically required to stand; often sits, occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include both close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This is a tactical role with frequent handling of equipment, supplies and some physical contact with patients during fittings.
