Job Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at Blaine North Clinic plays a vital role in managing customer flow throughout the clinic while assisting providers in the treatment and care of patients. Patients range across various age groups, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The Medical Assistant (MA) works collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide delegated clinical and clerical tasks as defined by the Blaze Health Medical Assistant scope of practice and regulatory boards.
The CMA will receive guidance from the Clinic Supervisor, Clinic Manager, and Providers, ensuring that customer needs, departmental goals, and organizational objectives are met. Strong communication skills and teamwork are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Care:
- Perform clinical and clerical tasks to manage customer flow efficiently.
- Conduct standard rooming procedures, including obtaining vital signs and medical history.
- Administer immunizations, injections, and other prescribed medications.
- Collect laboratory specimens and perform clinic laboratory tests.
- Support providers with medical procedures and patient care.
- Provide telephone support and facilitate communication between customers and providers.
- Assist with prescription refills.
- Perform x-ray duties if certified.
- Conduct phlebotomy duties as required.
Clinic Support:
- Assist with front desk operations and patient check-in.
- Order and maintain medical supplies.
- Assist with prior authorizations and insurance verifications.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED (Required)
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (Required)
- Completion of a registration program by an accredited national health services organization, such as American Medical Technologists, with a passed credentialing exam (Required)
Experience:
- Previous experience in a clinical setting (Required)
- Passed x-ray operator’s examination or willingness to complete per clinic requirements.
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proficiency in computer software applications.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to travel locally using a personal vehicle (Applicable for Occupational Medicine roles only).
Certifications & Licensure:
- Current Medical Assistant Certification (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (Required)
- State Licensure in Minnesota (Required)
