The Intensive Care / Coronary Care Registered Nurse is a professional nurse who coordinates the delivery of nursing care for critically ill, post-operative, ventilator, post cardiac arrest, post heart cath, hemodynamic stabilization and other critically ill patients in the units. The Registered Nurse responds to code and emergent situations as a team member within the hospital. The Registered Nurse participates in-patient and family teaching, provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary and other patient team personnel in maintaining standards of professional nursing practice in the intensive care / coronary care setting.

Job Summary The ICU RN manages the nursing care of critically ill patients in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. The tasks and responsibilities include : Assesses plans and evaluates patient care needs. Carries out physician orders. Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors vital signs. Provides respiratory and ventilator management and monitoring for patients. Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems. Instructs and educates patients and families. Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. Provides age and culturally appropriate care. Orients and mentors new staff members. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Qualifications Must have experience 1 year ICU exp or have floated to ICU Acute care experience required Associate Degree, Diploma in Nursing, or BSN required Current State of Florida license for Registered Nurse or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 90 days of hire. BLS required ACLS required CCRN preferred
