The SOLIDWORKS User Experience Design team is a multidisciplinary group of user experience designers, researchers, and engineers who are responsible for the user experience and user interface of SOLIDWORKS products. Our products span desktop, web, mobile, and AR/VR platforms.
As a User Experience Research Intern, you’ll help ensure user insights are at the heart of our product development. You’ll support and conduct a range of research activities to uncover user needs, test designs, and improve the experience across our platforms. This is an opportunity to make a real impact while gaining hands-on experience in an enterprise software environment. The projects you will be working on will be based on interest/skill and project availability. Your responsibilities will include the following:
Compensation for this role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $22 and $40 per hour.

As a User Experience Research Intern, you’ll help ensure user insights are at the heart of our product development. You’ll support and conduct a range of research activities to uncover user needs, test designs, and improve the experience across our platforms. The projects you will be working on will be based on interest/skill and project availability. Your responsibilities will include the following:
- Assist in planning and conducting user research across product discovery, concept development, and detailed design phases
- Support and run remote usability tests, user interviews, surveys, and other research studies
- Coordinate with senior researchers and designers to define study goals and ensure research rigor
- Potential to conduct exploratory research or participate in brainstorming around AI and AR/VR technologies to help shape future product roadmaps
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to uncover actionable insights
- Create journey maps and other visual artifacts to communicate user workflows, goals, pain points, and opportunities
- Summarize and present findings to inform design and product decisions
- Help improve research operations and documentation processes
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Factors, UX Research, Product Design, HCI, or a related field
- Familiarity with user-centered design and UX research methods, such as interviews, usability testing, surveys, task analysis, user journey mapping, and heuristic evaluations
- Strong communication skills—able to clearly share research plans and insights in both verbal and written formats
- Detail-oriented and organized, with an interest in both research and operations
- Experience with UX tools (e.g., Figma, Miro/Mural/Figjam, Excel/Sheets) is a plus
- Exposure to or interest in CAD, 3D modeling, or SOLIDWORKS is a bonus, but not required
