INTERNSHIP: User Assistance Developer

Responsibilities

Within the DELMIA R&D department of Dassault Systemes, you will join the User Assistance team as User Assistance Developer, intern, responsible for the documentation of DELMIA solutions on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. During this internship, you will be collaborating with software developers and industry experts to author and edit technical content. The team provides all the tools (guides, video tutorials, integrated assistance) necessary for the use and optimization of all DELMIA applications. This team works in collaboration with several other development teams in France and abroad (notably in the Netherlands and Poland).

In direct relation with our development engineers, the quality department and the support of our team of technical writers (User Assistance Developers), your main missions will be:

* Learn DELMIA applications through collaborative work with code developers. Work in a project release cycle and learn how to work together with a team to build online help content.

* Classification of information using DITA. Evaluate documentation for adherence to standards and recommend/incorporate changes.

* Review and modify existing content to improve its quality and effectiveness using the editing tool, Oxygen along with inserting screen captures using Snagit.

* Presentation of this information in the appropriate UA deliverable (video tutorial, topic in a user guide, tooltips in the 3DEXPERIENCE software, or built-in assistance).

* One of the goals of our UA team is to create tutorials in Camtasia software that illustrate realistic scenarios and transform the text designed for a website into UA deliverables (such as tooltips) to provide assistance that is available within the applications themselves. All of this is framed by the 3DS corporate standards (editorial guidelines) that guide you in the way you format information.

* Create or edit online help topics in XML format using industry-standard tools.

Qualifications

* Currently enrolled in a Bachelor, Master, or PhD preferably specializing in Technical Writing

* Good knowledge of XML (DITA), in particular Oxygen or a similar tool (Epic, MadCap Flare, XMetal)

* Be able to simplify complex information, proficient in strong research, writing, and communication skills, critical attention to in-depth details, grammar, style, and brevity

* Take complex and technically challenging subjects and with precision and accuracy transform them into relatively easy to understand information for technical and non-technical audiences

* Able to proofread their competed work on the website to make sure all data is accurate and done in a timely manner

* Positive, highly organized, and self-motivated individual with high level of enthusiasm and willingness to learn and incorporate coaching and instructions into daily tasks and assignments

* Video design skills. Knowledge of Camtasia

* Knowledge of writing tools (such as Acrolinx or Grammarly)

* SCM (UNIX) basic commands

* Proficiency in the use of 3D design and simulation software, 3DEXPERIENCE

* Experience with 3D CAD, robotics simulation software, industrial robots or Fabrication (Machining)

* Experience with object-oriented programming and software design patterns

This paid internship is based at the DASSAULT SYSTEMES, DELMIA Royal Oak office, located at 118 North Main Street, Royal Oak, MI 48067. Compensation for the role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $27 - $40 per hour.

You are expected to work a standard shift and come into the office building, as this is not a work-from-home position. If desired, and once approved, you then can follow our hybrid working policy.
