Job SummaryThe Field Technician Specialist II builds upon the foundational Tier 1 role by taking on more complex troubleshooting, installations, and customer support. This position requires a greater understanding of UPS systems, electrical components, and infrastructure maintenance.
Physical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 75 lbs.
Key Responsibilities- Perform start-up/commissioning, L1-L4 inspections, Energy Recycle, battery firmware updates, software updates on UPS systems.
- Perform Preventive maintenance, inspections, and corrective actions associated with UPS and battery cabinets discrepancies.
- Keep daily logs/reports to keep customers and personnel informed on current statuses.
- Travel out of state to support new customer deployments, emergency service calls, and tech support over the phone to customers or other associates.
- Work directly with customers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure successful installations and service resolutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated technical issues efficiently.
- Provide on-site and remote consulting to customers regarding their power and backup systems.
- Complete detailed service reports for all site visits, helping to build our knowledge base.
- Assist with installation projects and unit replacements as needed.
- Maintain proper inventory tracking and return electronic equipment to designated locations.
- Educate customers on the operation and maintenance of their systems, fostering strong client relationships.
- Follow all safety policies, cybersecurity protocols, and compliance requirements.
- 2-4 years of experience in the UPS industry, power systems, or a related technical field.
- Technical training or an associate’s/bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related discipline is preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of electricity, power distribution, and backup systems.
- Experience with UPS systems, batteries, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Comfortable working with computer systems and MS Office tools.
- Lockout Tagout Training
- OSHA 10 Hour Certification
- In-person First Aid and CPR Certification
- NFPA 70E
- Cooling system experience is a plus.
- Ability to speak Spanish.
- OSHA 30 Hour Certification
- Training/Experience with Delta Electronics, Toshiba, or Samsung
