Senior Data Governance Specialist - Full-time
The Senior Data Governance Specialist will lead efforts to design and implement data governance strategies that emphasize data ownership, quality, and lifecycle management. This role will play a critical part in establishing the foundation for organizational data analytics capabilities by ensuring that data governance enables reliable, actionable, and accessible data. Financial services experience is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, emphasizing clear data ownership, stewardship, and accountability
- Oversee comprehensive data lifecycle management strategies, including acquisition, processing, retention, archiving, and secure disposal
- Establish and enforce data quality standards, addressing gaps to improve the reliability and usability of organizational data as a foundation for analytics
- Define and prioritize requirements to enable the creation of data analytics capabilities, ensuring alignment with governance frameworks
- Define and track data governance metrics, such as data quality indicators, governance compliance rates, and usage statistics
- Consult a subject matter expert on data governance for financial services regulations, ensuring compliance with industry-specific requirements
- Provide strategic advice to leadership on improving data governance maturity and integrating governance practices into business operations
- Mentor junior team members and drive knowledge-sharing initiatives to build organizational capabilities in data governance
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- 5 years of experience in data governance, data quality, or data management; financial services experience is highly preferred
- Advanced understanding of data lifecycle management, including governance over data creation, transformation, usage, archival, and secure deletion
- Strong expertise in data ownership and stewardship models, with a track record of implementing effective data governance strategies
- Familiarity with the foundational requirements of building organizational data analytics capabilities
- Proven ability to lead projects, collaborate with diverse teams, and influence stakeholders at all levels of an organization
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field
- Remote work from home
- Hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday. Specific business hours will depend on client needs
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- The person in this position must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, library stacks, office machinery, etc
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer
- The person in this position frequently communicates with clients and coworkers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
