Job Summary:
The Lead Service Technician for Security Systems is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of security systems, including alarms, surveillance cameras, access control systems, and related technologies. This role requires both technical expertise and leadership skills to manage a team of technicians, ensure high-quality customer service, and provide expert guidance to clients on system usage and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision: Lead a team of security technicians, providing mentorship, training, and oversight to ensure all service calls are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Installation & Commissioning: Oversee and perform the installation, testing, and commissioning of security systems, ensuring systems are properly set up and fully operational.
- System Maintenance & Repairs: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair security systems, including alarms, video surveillance (CCTV), access control, and monitoring equipment, ensuring minimal downtime for clients.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide expert technical support to clients, both remotely and on-site, resolving complex system issues and ensuring the continued functionality of security systems.
- Customer Relations: Maintain positive relationships with customers, addressing concerns, explaining system functions, and providing training on the use and maintenance of security systems.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all work complies with industry standards, local codes, and company policies. Perform routine inspections and audits to verify the quality and functionality of systems installed.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate service records, including work orders, installation reports, parts used, system configurations, and customer communications. Ensure all necessary documentation is submitted in a timely manner.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels for parts and equipment, ensuring that necessary components are readily available for installations and repairs.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and ensure that all installations and repairs are completed in accordance with relevant safety standards and regulations.
- Team Collaboration & Training: Collaborate with other departments (sales, support, etc.) to ensure seamless service delivery. Provide ongoing training and development to junior technicians, helping them improve their technical skills and customer service abilities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or an associate's degree in electronics, security systems, or a related field preferred.
- years of experience in installing, maintaining, and servicing security systems (alarms, CCTV, access control, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of security system components, including cameras, alarms, motion detectors, access control devices, and networking.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing security systems and associated equipment.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
- Knowledge of local and national security industry standards, building codes, and regulations.
Preferred Skills:
- Industry certifications such as NICET, SIA (Security Industry Association), or other relevant credentials.
- Experience with networked security systems, cloud-based monitoring, and integration with other systems (e.g., smart home technologies).
- Familiarity with mobile apps and remote management platforms for security systems.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to explain technical information to non-technical clients.
Working Conditions:
- Field-based work, traveling to client sites for installations, maintenance, and service calls.
- Flexibility to work after-hours or weekends when necessary for emergency service calls or installations.
- Physical work, including the ability to lift and carry equipment, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
- On-call availability may be required to handle urgent service requests.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
