Job Summary:
The Security System Helper Installer supports experienced technicians with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of security systems. This role involves assisting with the setup of surveillance cameras, alarm systems, access control systems, and other security equipment. The Security System Helper Installer will gain hands-on experience and contribute to ensuring that security systems are properly installed, maintained, and fully operational for customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting in Installations: Help senior installers with the installation of security equipment, including cameras, alarm systems, sensors, and access control devices at client sites.
- Cable Management: Assist with the routing and securing of cables, ensuring all wiring is neat, safely secured, and hidden as required by project specifications.
- Equipment Handling: Transport and organize security system components, ensuring that all tools and materials are readily available for the technicians.
- Site Preparation: Assist with site assessments and preparation by setting up necessary equipment and tools, ensuring the workspace is ready for installations.
- Testing and Inspections: Assist in testing security systems after installation, ensuring all components are functioning correctly. Troubleshoot minor issues as directed by the senior technician.
- Documentation: Help document the installation process, including recording serial numbers, customer details, and system configurations. Report any issues or delays to the lead installer.
- Safety Compliance: Follow safety guidelines and protocols during installations, ensuring both personal and team safety on job sites.
- Customer Service: Maintain a positive attitude and provide assistance as needed while interacting with clients during installations. Ensure customers are informed about the work being done.
- Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Assist in maintaining and organizing tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and ready for use.
- Training: Participate in on-the-job training to learn more about security systems, installation procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems or previous experience in a technical support or construction role is preferred.
- A strong interest in security systems and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work well as part of a team, following directions from lead installers and technicians.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (if required to travel to job sites).
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools and power tools safely.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience in the security systems, construction, or electrical fields.
- Familiarity with security system components such as cameras, alarms, sensors, and access control devices.
- Basic understanding of networking or low-voltage wiring is a plus.
- Willingness to complete training and obtain relevant certifications.
Working Conditions:
- Field-based work at customer locations, which may involve travel.
- May require physical work, including lifting and carrying equipment, climbing ladders, and working in tight spaces.
- Some flexibility to work evenings or weekends, depending on customer needs or installation schedules.
- Adherence to safety protocols while working in various environments (residential, commercial, etc.).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
