Position Title: Security Systems Technician
Job Summary: The Security Systems Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing security systems and components, including but not limited to card access and IP surveillance to include electrified locking hardware, panels and power supplies card readers and associated peripherals, IP cameras, and servers. This role ensures that security equipment operates effectively to safeguard the premises, personnel, and assets of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Setup:
- Install, configure, and test security systems, including cameras, alarms, and access control equipment.
- Mount and position security hardware according to blueprints and installation requirements.
- Ensure all equipment is functional and complies with company standards and regulations.
- Maintenance and Repairs:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions or failures in security equipment and systems.
- Replace or repair faulty parts or components of security systems.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support for security systems, addressing any issues or questions from clients.
- Respond promptly to service requests, ensuring minimal downtime for security systems.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Create reports detailing the status and performance of security systems.
- Update and maintain the system’s operational manuals and documentation.
- Safety Compliance:
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
- Keep up to date with industry best practices, security standards, and legal requirements.
- Customer Interaction:
- Communicate with clients to understand their security needs and provide solutions.
- Provide training and instructions to customers on how to operate and maintain security systems.
- Emergency Response:
- Respond to emergency service calls and address security issues promptly.
- Work on-call shifts when required to handle urgent security system failures.
Required Qualifications:
- Able to work with tools, various test meters, and configurations using a laptop computer.
- Proven experience with security systems installation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of security equipment including CCTV, access control, fire alarms, and intrusion detection systems.
- Familiarity with wiring, electrical systems, and IT networking.
- Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and test security systems and equipment.

- Comfortable working in confined spaces, heights, and various environmental conditions.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require working during weekends, evenings, and on-call shifts.
- The technician may be required to travel to different job sites within the region.
