The Contract Data Governance Analyst will work with the Data Society Group Solutions Team on federal client projects on-site in the DMV area. This role is integral in ensuring the quality, integrity, and security of our clients' data. The Contract Data Governance Analyst will be responsible for defining and implementing data policies, standards, and procedures, and ensuring that data is managed in compliance with internal and external regulations.
This is a full-time contract role, 4 days per week on-site in Washington, DC (tentative hours: 9am-3pm) with the option to renew or convert to permanent at the end of the 6 month contract.
Responsibilities:
- Data Governance Framework:
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to ensure buy-in and adoption of the framework.
- Data Quality Management:
- Define and implement data quality metrics, standards, and processes.
- Identify and address data quality issues, working with data owners to remediate problems.
- Conduct regular data quality assessments and audits.
- Metadata Management:
- Develop and maintain a metadata repository, documenting data definitions, lineage, and relationships.
- Ensure that metadata is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
- Use metadata to improve data discovery, understanding, and use.
- Data Issue Resolution:
- Investigate and resolve data-related issues and incidents.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between data stakeholders to resolve conflicts and issues.
- Track and report on data issues and resolutions.
- Training and Communication:
- Develop and deliver training on data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
- Communicate data governance initiatives and progress to stakeholders.
- Promote a data-driven culture within the organization.
Skills You Bring:
- 3-5 years of experience in Python, data governance, data management, or a related field.
- Experience working with business stakeholders, data modeling, and data architecture concepts.
- Understanding various database paradigms and technologies.
- Knowledge of the DAMA framework.
- Ability to analyze, develop, and document processes, procedures, policies, charters, and document requirements to support data governance activities.
- Professional and technical presentation, written communication, customer service skills, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Proficiency in SQL, AWS or other cloud-based tools.
- Familiarity with data modeling, data warehousing, and business intelligence.
- Expertise in implementing governance for mission specific data standards.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, best practices, tools, and technologies.
- Knowledge of data quality management, metadata management, and data security.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certifications in data governance or related fields (e.g., CDMP, CIPM).
- Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., finance, healthcare).
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
Additional Client Requirements:
- This role requires US citizenship in order to receive required clearances.
- Key personnel requirement (i.e., hours from 8am-4pm ET).
- Candidates must be able to commute 4 days/week to federal client sites in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
